Daily Routine

We have a daily routine which we use as a guideline for how our day should go, this is flexible depending on the activities and the needs of the children.

A typical session runs as follows:-

8.45 staff set up the room, prepare activities and snack ready for the session.

9.15 Welcome children. Time for the children to settle in and an opportunity for parents to talk to staff. Also a time for children and parents to change their library books on a Tuesday and Thursday. Time for activities – adult led activities, often connected to the weekly theme, with small groups of children. Child initiated activities, when the children can choose freely. Also included is key person time, this is an opportunity for children to work with their key person. Leap into life/Letters and sounds is also carried out during this time.

10.30 Tidy up time

10.45 Circle time. The children are gathered into two groups, in the hall or on the carpet. During this time we often discuss the weather, the day of the week and count the number of children present.

We may also talk about the activities we have done that day and our present topic.

The children often have an opportunity to tell us their news. We sing songs and rhymes and read short stories.
