Scallywags Pre-School has been running for over 45 years!

We have a dedicated team of staff who work very closely with parents to ensure that every child is happy and encouraged to achieve their full potential.

We use custom-built premises, built in 2012 and attached to the Parish Hall, in the village of Halwill Junction, providing quality early years education for children from the age of 2 to 5 years.

We are registered to take up to 26 children per day.

Scallywags is run by a Volunteer Management Committee who employ a part-time paid Administrator.

We are a registered Charity No: 1033643 and registered with Ofsted: 106369

We have membership and insurance with Early Years Alliance.

Meet our Team

Every member of staff undertakes regular Safeguarding and First Aid training
and other training relevant to their role.
Scallywags operates with higher staff to child ratios than the legal minimum requirement for 2, 3 & 4 year olds We do this because we feel this helps to improve the standard of care and education provided. It also means we can devote more attention to the individual needs of each child in our care. Where we recognise that additional support is needed for a particular child, we will provide extra staffing and/or resources to achieve this and will apply for additional funding to support us.

We are looking to recruit more Trustees to our Charity and are particularly keen to find people with the following knowledge or skills - Website Designer, Health & Safety & Fundraising.

Please contact the Chair of Trustees - Lorna - to find out more. You will need to complete an Enhanced DBS and attend monthly Committee meetings (Zoom available).

Although most are, you don't need to be a parent to be a Trustee of our Charity.
